Thinking about fostering? Our online information sessions are a great place to start. You can listen in, ask a few questions, and get a real feel for what fostering with BCP Council is like. You won’t be asked to commit to anything, just come along and find out more!

What do the sessions cover?
In the session, you'll meet with an experienced member of the fostering team who will cover:
  • An overview of fostering with BCP Council
  • The types of fostering and who can apply
  • The impact of fostering 
  • Training, financial support and allowances
  • Q&A 
Who are the sessions for?
Our sessions are open to anyone who is curious about fostering. Whether you are joining alone or with other members of your household, our sessions are particularly useful if you:
  • Are thinking about fostering and want to learn more before making any decisions
  • Have questions about whether fostering could fit around your lifestyle, work or family
  • Are unsure if you meet the criteria to become a foster carer
  • Want to understand what the role involves day-to-day

What should I know before I join?
You don’t need any prior knowledge of fostering to join, but here are a few helpful things to know before you attend:
  • Sessions last around 45 minutes and are held online using Microsoft Teams
  • No registration is needed, just join on the day
  • There's no commitment to apply after attending
  • You don't need to turn your camera on
