Private fostering
What is private fostering?
When a young person under the age of 16 (18 if disabled) lives with someone who is not their close family, for 28 nights or longer, this is called private fostering. This is a private arrangement made between a parent and carer.
Hosting a student is considered a private fostering arrangement. Private fostering host families are expected to provide the young person with the same care as they would any child living in their home.
What support is available?
We are here to help! Our private fostering team is on hand to provide support and guidance throughout the duration of the arrangement.
If you decide to privately foster, we will allocate you an experienced social worker. They will offer support and ensure the arrangement is meeting both the needs of the young person and carer.
